Rachel's gift

My brother and his family came out to California last week. They came to see Lori's (my sister-in-law) Grandfather who is 90 yrs old. He went into the hospital two weeks ago and they were worried he might not make it to his birthday in July. There was a bit of a scare and he was in ICU for about a week, before they moved him to a regular room. He is doing better and was released from the hospital and is now back home. We are hoping to celebrate his 91st birthday come July.

Rachel has talked about getting her hair cut for locks of love every since her sister Becka did a year or so ago. So while they were here in Ca. Rachel decided she would go for it. If you don't know anything about locks for love it is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. (got that right off their website www.locksoflove.org) Anyway Rachel's hair is down to her bottom. So for her to give 10 inches for locks of love, she would still have long hair. She actually had more like 12 inches cut off since about an inch they couldn't use because of split ends and the about an inch to complete the cut/style. She has been growing her hair for a long time and was a bit nervous about getting it cut.

Here is a picture of her before she got her hair cut.
Here she is in the chair just before the hair stylist started.
This is a picture showing her getting her hair cut.
Here she is after and checking out how it looks.
When I told her I wanted a picture of her holding her hair that was cut off she said "No I don't want to see it." However I told her we need to send in a picture with the hair so locks of love will have a face to go along with the hair.

Here she is holding the hair they cut off that will go to locks of love to be made into a hairpiece. Afterward we went to the mall where Rachel, Becka and their cousin Katie had fun shopping and running my legs off. I could only get them out of the mall by bribing them with Jamba Juice. They went home on Sunday and I miss them already. Hopefully I will see them again soon when I go visit them in Utah. Good Job Rachel, I'm proud of you for donating your hair to a good cause.
